The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has proposed changes to insurance distribution economics. The regulator says the review aims to lower the costs of selling and administering insurance while improving value for policyholders. IRDAI extended the feedback deadline to Oct. 31, 2026. If adopted, the proposals could reduce distributors’ commissions; the regulator says lower distribution costs could benefit policyholders. The consultation is not a final rule.
