PB Fintech reported higher consolidated profit and revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30, while Binance separately estimated a security incident’s impact at $6.3 billion, placing company growth and exchange security in focus for investors and crypto users.
The Indian company’s consolidated profit after tax rose 43% from a year earlier to ₹192 crore, and consolidated operating revenue advanced 35% to ₹2,178 crore, according to its Oct. 30 results. Total insurance premiums grew 38% to ₹9,385 crore. New protection premiums increased 42%, while new health insurance premiums rose 46%.
PB Fintech operates Policybazaar and Paisabazaar and says it earns most of its revenue from fees and commissions paid by insurance and lending partners. The results add to figures covered in EconoTimes’ earlier report on the company’s quarterly earnings.
In a separate development, Binance’s Oct. 30 update put the incident’s estimated impact at about $6.3 billion. TRM Labs’ reconstruction put the Oct. 29 transfers at about $6.36 billion, linking wallets it associated with Binance to addresses it identified as attacker-controlled across 10 blockchains. TRM valued the assets when they moved and called the incident the largest crypto theft on record. Most of the transfers took place in about 20 minutes from 4:05 p.m. ET (20:05 UTC).
TRM’s on-chain snapshot through 8:30 p.m. ET Oct. 29 (00:30 UTC Oct. 30) put frozen assets at roughly $2.7 billion and assets still beyond issuers’ reach at about $2.4 billion. Binance said about $3 billion had been frozen by the time of its update. The estimates use different snapshots.
Binance’s preliminary review pointed to a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop as a possible route to a service container used to submit unauthorized withdrawals. The exchange said it found no evidence of a wallet private-key leak, temporarily paused deposits and withdrawals, and revoked the affected address authorization. It said it would cover losses using its Secure Asset Fund for Users and company funds.
TRM assessed that an EIP-7702 delegation turned an Ethereum hot wallet into a sweeper, using 50 authorizations signed in advance. The firm said activity on the other nine networks pointed to a compromise of Binance’s hot-wallet signing infrastructure. TRM attributed the attack with high confidence to TraderTraitor, which it described as a North Korean hacking unit; Binance said it was working with law-enforcement partners to identify those responsible. TRM compared the incident with the $1.5 billion Bybit hack in February 2025, describing the Binance incident as about four times larger.
Binance said it would publish a technical postmortem after its investigation is complete and the facts are verified. It also plans to update its Proof of Reserves after remediation, without giving a timetable.
