Paradigm has released EVM code generation for its Solar Solidity compiler, with project benchmarks reporting faster compilation and Chief Technology Officer Georgios Konstantopoulos saying Solar uses less gas at runtime and lowers deployment costs.

Solar itself is not new: its repository lists version 0.1.0 as an initial release in November 2024. Paradigm had previously targeted the week of Oct. 26 for the EVM code-generation feature.

Konstantopoulos said Solar averaged more than 100 times Solc’s compilation speed in via-IR mode. Paradigm’s README describes benchmarks across six real-world projects and identifies Morpho Blue as the case where Solar reached 159 times Solc’s speed.

Konstantopoulos said Solar produces smaller bytecode than Solc and uses less gas at runtime, which he said lowers deployment costs. Paradigm’s project documentation cautions that Solar is still under development and is not intended for production use.
