A Thursday order from the Paris police prefecture extends overnight restrictions in designated areas until Monday morning, while France 24 reported that hundreds attended a student protest after a court overturned a police ban.

The curfew runs from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Paris time each night. The first period ran from 5 p.m. ET Oct. 22 through midnight ET Oct. 23 (11 p.m. Oct. 22 to 6 a.m. Oct. 23 in Paris). The prefecture’s order says the restrictions began after weekend violence and looting.

France 24 described Thursday’s protest as student-organized. It also reported that students had held protests for four weeks before rallies on Oct. 17.

The extension follows an earlier renewal of curfew restrictions in two central Paris areas. The current order keeps the overnight limits in place through Monday morning.
