VnExpress reported that Forbes' real-time estimate put Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong, 58, at $34 billion on Oct. 19, ranking him 68th globally and among the 10 wealthiest people in their 50s.
At 55, Tesla founder Elon Musk led the age group with an estimated $908 billion. Both Google co-founders, 53-year-olds Larry Page and Sergey Brin, had estimated fortunes above $250 billion, VnExpress reported.
Hedge fund manager Ken Griffin, 58, was listed at nearly $57 billion, while Tencent Chairman Ma Huateng, 54, had $45 billion. VnExpress also named battery executive Robin Zeng, gaming executive William Ding, financial software executive Andrea Pignataro and investor Peter Thiel among the 10. The outlet put their fortunes between $36 billion and $45 billion.
VnExpress said the 10 billionaires collectively managed more than $1.7 trillion in assets, a higher figure than for any other age group. The outlet attributed much of the total to Musk's fortune.
