Planet Fitness raised its 2026 revenue-growth outlook after third-quarter revenue rose 9%, while net income declined from a year earlier, leaving the company with stronger sales expectations but mixed earnings results.
Planet Fitness reported the results in an earnings release furnished as an exhibit to its Nov. 5 Form 8-K. Revenue climbed 9% to $360 million for the quarter ended Sept. 30. Systemwide same-club sales grew 1.5% during the period.
The company now expects revenue growth of about 8% in 2026, up from its previous forecast of 7%. It also lifted its outlook for adjusted EBITDA growth to about 6.5% from 6%. Its same-club sales forecast is now 1.5% to 2%, compared with a prior expectation of about 1%.
Planet Fitness maintained its expectation that adjusted net income, a non-GAAP measure, will decline about 3% for the year. It also reiterated its forecast for adjusted diluted earnings per share to increase about 6%. The company therefore expects sales and adjusted EBITDA growth alongside lower adjusted net income.
For the third quarter, net income attributable to Planet Fitness was $52 million, down from $58.8 million a year earlier. Diluted earnings per share remained at $0.70. Adjusted net income decreased to $61.9 million from $67 million, while adjusted EBITDA rose to $146.2 million from $140.8 million.
Planet Fitness authorized a new share repurchase program of up to $500 million, replacing its 2025 program. During the quarter, it bought and retired about 1 million Class A shares for $50 million. Planet Fitness said it is assessing whether its U.S.-owned clubs could move to franchise ownership.
