At the height of the E3 events earlier this month, the rumor mill has been hinting at Sony’s PlayStation State of Play happening soon as well. While the company has yet to confirm when its next presentation is happening, fans are not entirely clueless about the potential games to be unveiled. And it might include the first gameplay preview of the next “God of War” game.
‘God of War’ and other games that could be in next State of Play
The next “God of War” is undeniably one of the most anticipated PS-exclusive games in development even though fans have not seen any gameplay. That might change in the coming weeks, though. Known gaming insider Shpeshal_Nick recently reported that the game’s first gameplay would be announced at the next PlayStation event.
When Sony announced the game last year, its video teaser did not contain any detail or actual preview of the game or its story other than the message, “Ragnarok is coming.” It sparked rumors that “Ragnarok” is planned to the next “God of War’s” title, but Sony and Santa Monica Studio have yet to confirm that. What fans know for now is that the game has been delayed to 2022 and will be released on both PS4 and PS5.
The “Ghost of Tsushima” is also rumored to be getting a standalone expansion with a planned release date in 2021. The same leaker recently reported that it would be titled “Ghost of Ikishima,” which hints it would still be inspired by the events of the first Mongol invasion in Japan. Shpeshal_Nick also floated the possibility for the standalone expansion to be officially announced at the next PlayStation State of Play.
Unlike the games above, “Death Stranding: Director’s Cut” already made its official appearance after it was presented by Hideo Kojima at Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest earlier this month. But considering that the game is only released on the PlayStation system for console users, it would not be surprising if it is also part of Sony’s event.
When is the next PlayStation State of Play?
For now, the existence of a PlayStation State of Play this summer is still just a rumor. However, with several sources seemingly agreeing that Sony is gearing up for a summer presentation, fans might be getting an announcement soon.
However, a recent report from JeuxVideo (translated with Google Translate) suggests the “potential” date for the next PlayStation State of Play could be on July 8. If that is a piece of accurate information, Sony should announce the event this week.
