Plus500 has agreed conditionally to acquire Brazilian brokerage Guru, a transaction the company says would give it a local regulatory foothold for expanding its offering in the country.
The Central Bank of Brazil (BCB) has authorized Guru Corretora de Títulos e Valores Mobiliários Ltda. to operate, while the Securities and Exchange Commission of Brazil (CVM) regulates it. The proposed acquisition covers all of Guru. Plus500 announced the agreement Oct. 20.
Plus500 said buying a firm with local authorization would give it market access it could develop using its technology. It plans to use Guru's framework to add Brazilian stocks, futures, options and fixed-income securities to its offering. Guru has not started distributing products, so the planned lineup is a future expansion rather than a current service. Plus500 says a broader range would give local customers more products.
The purchase price was not disclosed. Plus500 plans to fund payment from existing cash when the acquisition closes. Its cash resources topped $860 million on June 30, 2026; that figure describes Plus500's resources, not the value of Guru.
On Oct. 13, Plus500 announced a separate conditional deal involving Hedge Capital Markets Inc. and its subsidiaries, a group that includes a U.S. broker-dealer. The company expects a U.S. app covering multiple asset classes to launch in the first quarter of 2027.
For its broader Latin American plans, Plus500 cited its relationship with Nelogica and its presence in Colombia. It also aims to give customers across the region access to U.S. derivatives.
The Guru transaction still needs regulatory approval and must meet other closing conditions. Plus500 did not give a target closing date or say when the proposed Brazilian products might begin distribution.
