Polish prosecutors have charged nine people over an alleged laundering network that moved about 337 million zlotys in online scam proceeds through cryptocurrency exchange offices and other channels.
The Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Łódź said the alleged activity ran from February 2025 to July 2026. Prosecutors accuse the group of making the money’s criminal origins difficult to establish. All nine suspects face money laundering and organized crime charges; some also face charges over alleged failures to report suspicious transactions.
The Border Guard said the underlying scams involved cryptocurrency investments and investment platforms. Prosecutors said some fraudsters posed as platform representatives. The Border Guard identified the suspects as eight Ukrainians and one Belarusian woman.
According to prosecutors, couriers took cash to cryptocurrency exchange offices that processed it without required anti-money-laundering checks. Money also passed through bank accounts, while some cash was carried abroad in concealed vehicle compartments. Prosecutors said purported gold purchases may have helped disguise transfers and that most of the proceeds ended up in cryptocurrency.
Authorities confiscated electronic devices as well as cash and gold valued together at more than 1 million zlotys. Seven suspects are being held before trial. The remaining two must stay in Poland and are subject to police supervision and financial guarantees.
A conviction could bring a prison term of up to 15 years. Prosecutors said the investigation is continuing.
