Polish wage growth is expected to have accelerated in December, whereas employment is likely to have remained at a stable level. According to a Societe Generale research report, wage growth is anticipated to have accelerated to 4.4 percent year-on-year in December from November’s 4 percent year-on-year. Employment growth is likely to have grown 3.1 percent year-on-year, unchanged from November.
A recent analysis indicates to a continuation of employment growth, although at a slower rate, underpinned by the sharp rise in consumption, stated Societe Generale. Manpower Group’s Employment Barometer shows that 12 percent of firms are intending to increase employment in the first quarter of 2017, whereas 8 percent are planning to layoffs. This leads to a net percentage of firms increasing employment of 4 percent, as compared with 5 percent in the first quarter of 2016.
