A CoinGecko/exchange spot snapshot put Polkadot (DOT) at $1.18, up 6.59% over 24 hours as of 4:36 a.m. ET (08:36 UTC) Friday, Oct. 23, with a 2.1 billion DOT supply ceiling in place.

A governance change on March 14, 2026, set that maximum supply and reset the annual issuance level to 55 million DOT, down from 120 million. The ceiling applies to total supply; the issuance figure sets the yearly flow of new tokens. Lower issuance restricts that flow but does not show whether demand has shifted.

DOT has uses on Polkadot beyond trading. Participants can stake it, use it in network governance and spend it to acquire coretime.

A Binance snapshot at 4:13 a.m. ET (08:13 UTC) Thursday, Oct. 22, put DOT at $1.11, down 4.47% over 24 hours, as EconoTimes reported in its earlier market update.
