The Clerk’s Oct. 19 count left Democrats four seats short of a full-House majority; a Nov. 3 Polymarket snapshot put their implied chance of taking control at 95%.

Polymarket’s page displayed $38,251,843 in total volume when accessed Nov. 3, but did not list the exact time of the price snapshot. The page says the market opened July 11, 2025, and is scheduled to resolve on or around Nov. 3, 2026. Its outcome depends on which party controls the chamber, not how many seats that party wins.

The Office of the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives listed 218 Republicans, 214 Democrats, one independent and two vacancies in its Oct. 19 count. The House has 435 voting seats, with 218 needed for a majority when all seats are filled. Democrats would need four additional seats to reach that threshold if they retain their current seats.

Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings for Colorado’s 8th District show different reporting windows for the candidates. Democratic challenger Manny Rutinel reported $9,459,070.43 in receipts from Jan. 27, 2025, through Oct. 14, 2026. Republican Rep. Gabe Evans reported $7,248,105.93 from Jan. 1, 2025, through Oct. 14, 2026. The totals cover candidate committees, not outside-group spending.

House History, Art & Archives counts 19 changes in House majority control since 1856, with midterm elections accounting for more than three-quarters. Its historical tally also shows that control changed hands in slightly more than one-third of midterm elections in the period.

The FEC lists Tuesday, Nov. 3, as the regularly scheduled federal general election. Polymarket’s contract is set to resolve on or around that date.
