Polymarket said the National Futures Association (NFA) approved its affiliate PM Derivatives, LLC, for futures commission merchant (FCM) status, a step toward a U.S. brokerage channel whose operating clearance remains uncertain.

The NFA describes an FCM as an intermediary that accepts customer orders for derivatives and handles assets supporting those trades. Polymarket said PM Derivatives would handle customer orders and funds, with positions fully collateralized at trade time. Any future margin service would need additional regulatory approval, the company said.

Polymarket said the unit is intended to help it work with distribution partners and serve jurisdictions that require a regulated broker. It did not name potential partners or markets. The company said customers would keep accessing its U.S. markets through existing FCMs and brokerage partners.

The new unit would join Polymarket US’s existing market structure. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) designated QCX LLC, which does business as Polymarket US, as a contract market on July 9, 2025. The CFTC registered QC Clearing LLC as a derivatives clearing organization on Dec. 17, 2024.

Reuters reported that the NFA website showed the approval, but also reported that PM Derivatives still needed CFTC approval before it could operate as an FCM. CFTC guidance says FCMs must register with the commission and that it delegated application processing to the NFA. Those accounts do not establish whether the NFA approval alone clears PM Derivatives to begin the fully collateralized service. Polymarket has not announced a start date.
