Polymarket US has asked a court for relief at two stages of its challenge to Ohio’s sports-contract restrictions.
Ohio set Oct. 16 as the deadline for Polymarket US to confirm in writing that it had stopped offering the contracts, following the state's demand for an immediate halt. The company wants one order to apply while the case proceeds and another that would stop Ohio from enforcing its demand after a final decision.
QCX LLC, which runs Polymarket US, received its contract-market designation from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on July 9, 2025.
A separate legal dispute involving rival exchange Kalshi is also before the Supreme Court. New Jersey's petition over state authority for sports contracts remains pending. Ohio was among 39 states and the District of Columbia that backed New Jersey in a brief dated Oct. 7.
