Popeyes will be adding a new menu item to its restaurant, and it may reignite the chicken wars. It was revealed that the fast-food chain that offers Louisana fried chicken will be releasing chicken nuggets in its restaurants in North America.
Reigniting the chicken wars?
Fox Business noted that Popeyes’ addition of chicken nuggets to its menu may possibly revive the U.S. restaurants’ old rivalry where they try to outdo each other by offering chicken menu items. Due to these chicken wars, fast-food companies have launched various chicken sandwiches, flavored fried chicken, and many more. However, it is still hard to judge which one offers the best fried chicken.
At any rate, Popeyes is bringing its chicken nuggets to North America on July 27, and this was already confirmed by the Louisiana-based company that is owned by Restaurant Brands International. While it is not certain if it will reignite the chicken wars, Popeyes’ teaser on Twitter for its nuggets suggests it may happen again.
Popeyes actually sparked the chicken sandwich war in the past. It can be recalled that after its newly-released crispy chicken sandwich got sold out immediately, McDonald’s took action and announced its new menu as well. They also triggered debates on social media as customers state which restaurant has the best chicken.
"Just like our game-changing Chicken Sandwich, our new Chicken Nuggets are unlike anything you may have experienced before," Sami Siddiqui, Popeyes Americas president, said in a statement. “We aim to show the world once again the magic of Popeyes chicken with our new Nuggets and we believe that these pieces of crunchy, juicy delicious chicken will have guests question how they ever enjoyed chicken nuggets before this.”
Popeyes’ nuggets’ recipe
For customers of Popeyes, they will enjoy the new nuggets because it was made based on the restaurant's own chicken sandwich recipe. As per USA Today, the nuggets are coated with special flour and batter to give the perfect crispiness that the customers always love about Popeyes chicken.
Finally, the nuggets are made from white meat chicken breast, and they can be bought with various sauce options for enhanced flavor. Customers can choose from Mardi Gras Mustard, Bayou Buffalo, Buttermilk Ranch, BoldBQ, Blackened Ranch, and Sweet Heat.
