Predicate announced an $8 million Series A for software that applies compliance rules to digital-asset transactions, addressing a challenge the company says grows as assets settle quickly and move across borders.
Blockchain Capital led the round, Predicate said. Paxos joined as a new strategic investor, while existing backers also participated. Predicate’s post on X named 1kx and Tribe Capital among the participants.
Predicate said the financing brings its disclosed funding total to $15 million. The company did not announce a valuation, the size of each investor’s contribution or a specific plan for using the proceeds.
Predicate’s product is designed for issuers and financial firms that want to apply checks such as identity verification, anti-money-laundering screening, sanctions monitoring, wallet restrictions and limits tied to a jurisdiction. Its documentation says users can define policies for those controls. The software evaluates policies and signs the results as attestations, or digital confirmations that can be checked later. The onchain Predicate Registry validates attestations and connects them to smart-contract enforcement of the associated rules.
Predicate reported that, since launch, its platform had screened more than $1 billion in transaction volume, evaluated more than six million transactions against user policies and blocked more than 100,000 transactions it classified as noncompliant. The figures are the company’s cumulative totals, and its announcement did not include an independent audit.
Predicate says digital-asset controls have to address rapid settlement and the ability to move assets across borders. It argues that compliance obligations can continue after an asset is issued, requiring checks beyond issuance. Blockchain Capital said financial firms want to bring products onto public blockchains while retaining transaction controls. The firm also described skepticism, followed by regulatory uncertainty, as barriers to adoption over the past decade.
“Onchain finance only scales when regulated products can live on it,” said Derek Gottfrid, head of product and engineering at Paxos.
