Premium Times found three women among 76 names it examined for a meeting of Nigeria's ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, a limited view of representation in President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election campaign.

The outlet identified Zainab Marwa, Hadiza Bala Usman and Stella Okotete, each listed in a secretary or assistant secretary role. Women made up 3.9% of the names examined. That percentage does not describe the full council or establish who attended the meeting.

Leadership and Biztellers, citing an Oct. 18 notice from council secretary and Imo State Gov. Hope Uzodimma, reported that 134 council members were eligible to attend. The 76 names examined by Premium Times and the reported 134 eligible members are different counts. The 3.9% figure cannot be applied to the larger group.

The meeting was scheduled for 9 a.m. ET (13:00 UTC) on Oct. 20 in Abuja, according to reports quoting Uzodimma's notice. The council was due to discuss its campaign calendar and preparations for a formal launch in Kaduna.

The State House said Tinubu inaugurated the council on Oct. 14. Its August membership roster listed women in director positions, including Dr. Ngozi Olejeme as a zonal director and Betta Chimaobim Edu as director of women mobilisation. That roster records council membership, rather than invitations to the Oct. 20 meeting.

The campaign council also said it held a Women Mobilisation Directorate event on Oct. 5. The roster and event show women's roles elsewhere in the campaign organization, but neither establishes the makeup of the later meeting. Premium Times said Uzodimma's press secretary had not replied to its request for comment when it published its findings.

Reports quoting the meeting notice said the council was preparing for its formal campaign launch in Kaduna on Oct. 24.
