BERLIN, March 07, 2018 -- At ITB Berlin, the world’s largest tourism trade fair, Ctrip’s [CTRP] Chief Executive Officer Jane Sun opened the event with a keynote session titled “Travel: A Gateway to Global Peace and Prosperity.”
During her presentation, which was followed by an interview, Jane defined peace as a state without conflict. She emphasized that when people focus on short-term interests, conflicts inevitably occur. Forming long term, win-win cooperation instead of zero-sum competition is the key to avoiding conflicts and promoting peace. At the core, the key to achieving win-win cooperation is based on mutual understanding.
Jane states that people need to be well connected in order to have mutual understanding and travel is essential in connecting people and building mutual understanding. "Travel connects people with places, experiences and memories, people meet different people through travel, experience different cultures and understand different values," she said. "Each traveler deepens their understanding of other cultures through their experiences. At the same time they become an ambassador to share their own culture with others." With travel as the key to invigorating understanding, peace and prosperity will naturally follow.
