Pump.fun has added trading in PreStocks tokens tied to eight private companies, expanding the assets available through its Solana coin-launch platform while leaving buyers without ownership rights in those businesses.
Pump.fun said Oct. 19 that users can trade tokens referencing Anthropic, OpenAI, Neuralink, Anduril, Oura, Figure AI, Polymarket and Kalshi. Creators can also select the tokens as pairing assets for new coins launched on the platform.
PreStocks describes its tokens as providing economic exposure to those businesses. It says holding a token conveys no ownership, voting rights or dividends, and that the referenced companies did not issue or endorse the assets. That distinguishes a token linked to a private firm from owning part of it. EconoTimes previously covered similar distinctions in its earlier coverage of equity-linked tokens, which noted that some tokens can track stock performance without making holders shareholders.
PreStocks also says they are unavailable to U.S. persons and in the United States. Its FAQ warns holders could lose their entire investment and says resale liquidity is not guaranteed. That warning concerns how readily tokens can be resold, not whether a market can exist.
Pump.fun launched Custom Pairs in a Sept. 9 update, initially allowing tokenized stocks and other eligible assets as pairings. Under the feature, creators can choose an already issued token as the pairing asset for a coin they launch. The PreStocks addition brings private-company tokens into that eligible asset range. Pairing describes a token’s role in a coin’s trading setup, not an ownership link to the private company named by PreStocks.
Pump.fun’s fee schedule says trades involving coins that use Custom Pairs generate fees for the platform and, where applicable, creators; traders pay those charges. The arrangement gives Pump.fun and participating creators a financial interest in the feature’s trading activity, while users bear the direct cost.
