Chipmaker Qualcomm plans to begin notifying employees worldwide of job cuts in November after annual reviews, Reuters reported, with the size of the planned reduction still unknown.

Qualcomm's 2025 annual filing listed about 52,000 full-time, part-time and temporary workers as of Sept. 28, 2025. Most were full-time. That workforce count does not indicate how many jobs the company plans to cut.

In an Oct. 19 memo, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon said the decisions would reflect the company's priorities, staffing needs and employees' expertise, Reuters reported. Amon called for “a stronger performance culture,” according to the memo reviewed by Reuters.

Separately, Qualcomm reported that handset-chip revenue fell 20% from a year earlier to $5.086 billion in the quarter ended June 28, 2026, while automotive-chip revenue rose 61% to $1.588 billion. The company expects growth in revenue outside handsets to increase from 24% in fiscal 2026 to more than 60% in fiscal 2027.

Employee notifications are expected to start in November, Reuters reported. No more specific date was given.
