Rönesans Infrastructure and Digital Realty are developing an Ankara data center whose first phase is designed for more than 22 megawatts of IT capacity, contributing to Türkiye’s drive to expand computing infrastructure.
Anadolu Agency reported that a groundbreaking ceremony took place Monday, Oct. 19, at Baskent Organized Industrial Zone. Digital Realty said in September that early construction work was already underway.
Türkiye’s AI Vision and Action Plan for 2026-2030 calls for at least one gigawatt of installed data-center capacity by 2030. Rönesans estimates that the Ankara campus and a second site it plans in Istanbul could eventually provide 200 megawatts of combined IT capacity, about one-fifth of that minimum target.
Rönesans says rising demand for AI, cloud technology, data storage and connectivity is driving the investment. It expects the campuses to serve Turkish companies and public institutions, as well as international digital-service, technology and cloud providers.
The partners expect the Ankara campus to begin operations in 2028.
