Reliance Retail Ventures Limited (RRVL) saw its EBITDA margin from operations narrow to 7.3% in the quarter ended Sept. 30 as profit fell 24.3%, while gross revenue advanced 6.4% to Rs 91,716 crore.
RRVL reported profit after tax of Rs 2,611 crore for Q2 FY27, compared with Rs 3,451 crore a year earlier, in results released by Reliance Industries on Oct. 30. Gross revenue was Rs 86,169 crore in the year-earlier quarter; the reported growth comparison adjusts for the demerger of the Consumer Brands business.
Revenue from operations, a separate measure, increased 5.8% to Rs 80,220 crore from Rs 75,836 crore. EBITDA from operations was Rs 5,886 crore, down from Rs 6,624 crore a year earlier, a decline of 11.1%. Its margin fell to 7.3% from 8.7%. The two revenue measures rose even as operating EBITDA and profit after tax declined.
Reliance Industries linked the profit decline to digital-commerce spending, absorbing some input-cost increases for customers, and higher depreciation and finance costs. The company also said the festive calendar shifted into Q3 FY27, the December quarter, rather than Q2. The quarter included a Rs 108 crore impairment charge related to 7-Eleven.
RRVL opened 303 stores and closed locations it described as unproductive. It ended September with 19,947 stores covering 77.5 million square feet, according to the release.
“The new model with fast growing Digital Commerce and B2B channels is working and funded by the profits of offline business,” RRVL Executive Director Isha M. Ambani said.
Q3 FY27 includes the festive period, making it the next quarter to watch for the effect of the calendar shift. The results follow EconoTimes’ pre-results review of Reliance’s Q2 outlook.
