SAN DIEGO, April 27, 2018 -- Entering the residential substance abuse treatment program, individuals are expected to pay a minimal monthly fee in order to remain there. This is not much in comparison to the benefits that the individual will get from the services provided. This will also give the individual some type of accountability and responsibility that they had not been fully aware of before. They will have a sense of fulfillment knowing that they are productive members of society.

Most of these individuals are placed in an apartment or group home fully equipped with bedrooms, living room, furniture, parking and other essential amenities. For may be the first time, this individual is happy to have somewhere to call home. They may have never had this chance to make a difference in their lives and to operate in the society as a normal human being should. The residential substance abuse treatment program is instrumental and important to get the person back on track. To function normally as other members of society do. They will learn the right life skills that should adequately introduce them back into the real world.
In the residential substance abuse treatment program, the individuals are allowed to participate in activities outdoor that give them a stress-free atmosphere that is more relaxing and fun than the lives they once led. However, aside from the fun, the individuals have to assume particular responsibilities in the house such as cleaning and participating in other duties.
Each individual has to also go to therapy on a daily basis so that the therapist can monitor and control their progress and behavior. This is a personalized treatment that is specific to each individual. Of course, there are group therapy sessions that also benefit the individual. In group therapy, opportunities are open to share stories with the other residents and gather a learning experience from what is heard. They will also form new friendships with their peers and enter into a lifetime bond on many occasions.
In these therapy sessions, the therapist will provide essential advice and permit the individuals to talk amongst each other in the general forum so that everyone can hear and be inspired and encouraged. There are also specific educational sessions that will allow the recovering addict to be more equipped when going out to search for gainful employment. They will have the assistance of professionals that will show them how to build their resume and how to interview for a job effectively. This is important because the residents are expected to start looking for a job as soon as they come into the residential substance abuse treatment program. They are given a specific period of time to get that job and will be given as much help as they need to do so. Some who don’t show the interest or don’t want to work will be kicked out of the program at best. Another reason for being kicked out of the program is deliberately disobeying the rules and guidelines that are set in place for all residents.
