Ripple Prime is considering whether Securitize’s tokenized U.S. shares belong in its institutional trading business, potentially adding share-backed securities to a platform that already offers swaps tied to traditional markets.
Securitize said in its Oct. 8 launch announcement that Ripple Prime plans to support the product and examine trading applications. Ripple Prime’s trading role remains prospective.
The initial lineup comprises 12 securities, including Apple, Microsoft and NVIDIA. Securitize Stocks use the Solana network, with transactions settling in USDC through Securitize’s registered brokerage. Initial trading is available during extended hours.
Each token represents a security entitlement backed by one underlying share. Holders receive any dividends paid on that share and can vote if its share class carries voting rights, Securitize said.
Holders are not registered shareholders of the companies behind the stocks. Securitize says conversion to direct ownership is possible where available if an issuer adopts its own tokenization program. The companies whose shares back the current tokens have not sponsored or endorsed the offering.
Access is limited to eligible investors in permitted markets and requires identity and anti-money-laundering checks. Securitize named the United States and European Union among the regions where eligible investors may participate, subject to securities rules.
Ripple Prime already offers swaps linked to more than 100 traditional markets. Those contracts reference perpetual futures on Hyperliquid, while Securitize Stocks are backed by company shares. The swaps trade around the clock; the stock tokens initially trade during extended hours.
Securitize said its own tokenized common stock has traded on Solana since its New York Stock Exchange listing in July. The company presents Securitize Stocks as a step toward broader adoption of tokenization by share issuers.
The stock tokens could also trade on planned NYSE and OKXICE venues, but neither has launched. Trading there requires regulatory approval and venue review and may not occur, Securitize said.
