In the May 4 episode of “Riverdale,” we saw FP Jones (Skeet Ulrich), Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) dad, get arrested for the murder of Jason Blossom (Trevor Stine). However, we all know that someone actually planted a gun in FP’s trailer, which could mean that the killer is still pretty out there.
Although FP’s shady dealings with the Southside Serpents indicates his potential involvement in Jason’s murder, the frame-up opens up to the possibility that the actual killer is still in the midst. Cast members has since weighed in on the fan theories, but majority of them zeroed in on an unlikely character: the sheriff’s son, Kevin Kellers, played by Casey Cott.
Sprouse told MTV, "I don't want to spoil it too much, but I like the ones about Kevin Keller so far, which are really great. They involve him having a connection to the sheriff and the sheriff's duty as a father and those kind of complicated relationships."
Ashleigh Murray, who plays Josie in the show, said, "The way they set it up, I was like, oh my God!"
Cott seems to agree, and added, "The Kevin theories are amazing because it shows how in-depth they go, down to what books I'm reading when I'm sitting in the student lounge and don't even have a line in that scene, or researching movies that I quote, or actors that I talk about, or one-liners that I have and where they come from."
Kevin seems far below the rank of the suspect pool, but the mystery surrounding his character may have fueled suspicion. Moreover, it is also to note that with Kevin being the son of the sheriff, and that his boyfriend is a local gang member, there’s no doubt why some fans are looking at him as the killer.
