Rep. Ro Khanna plans to join independent Senate candidate Dan Osborn at a Nebraska town hall, in the first such campaign event with an elected official, CBS News reported.
Osborn is seeking to unseat Sen. Pete Ricketts, a former Nebraska governor. CBS reported that Osborn has said he would remain outside both party caucuses if elected. The outlet also reported that no Democrat currently represents Nebraska in Congress.
Khanna has pressed for the release of records related to Jeffrey Epstein and worked with Republican Rep. Thomas Massie on the Epstein Files Transparency Act, CBS reported. Khanna told the outlet he had considered how his appearance might be received by conservative and independent voters, and said Osborn’s campaign asked him to attend.
Former Montana Gov. Marc Racicot, who chaired the Republican National Committee, and former Illinois Rep. Joe Walsh are also scheduled to join the panel, CBS reported. Osborn said concern over the Epstein case helped bring the group together. In a statement to CBS, he wrote that “no party has a monopoly on good ideas.”
The town hall is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, CBS News reported.
