Roblox Adds XRP Payment Option Amid SEC Lawsuit Against Ripple Labs

Roblox users can now make in-game purchases using XRP, despite ongoing legal scrutiny surrounding Ripple Labs.

Roblox is now accepting XRP, the native crypto token of the Ripple network. It can be a payment option for buying and playing games on the popular online creation game platform.

Ripple’s digital currency will be accepted for in-game purchases on Roblox. The integration of XRP into the game shows that it remained strong and continued to be received by merchants around the world, even with a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against Ripple Labs for alleged violation of securities laws by selling $1.3 billion of its XRP without registering it first as a security.

Xsolla and BitPay Announce Support for XRP

As per CoinTelegraph, Xsolla is a global video game commerce firm that manages in-game payments on Roblox. It is an intermediary payment processor, so when players buy something on the gaming platform using a debit card or PayPal, Xsolla processes the transaction.

Now, Xsolla announced it is now supporting XRP, which makes it possible for players to pay using this digital currency. BitPay is also a partner in this new cooperation since it is in charge of linking with crypto wallets. This means XRP payments on Roblox will be available to players via BitPay crypto payment service provider.

Xsolla - A Key Player in the Gaming Industry

Xsolla was established in 2005; since then, it has been a major player in the gaming sector. It has expanded its presence across the industry by offering various tools that can help game developers monetize, launch, and distribute their creations globally.

Its cooperation with BitPay started in 2014 when the latter integrated Xsolla into its platform, aiming to streamline in-game transactions. Xsolla also began processing Bitcoin payments through BitPay, and their partnership continued to expand so it could add different cryptocurrencies, according to CoinGape.

Meanwhile, Roblox has around 65.5 million active daily users, and it is available on various platforms, including iOS, macOS, Windows, Android, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It was stated in the company’s financial report this year that players spent approximately $773 million on in-game purchases in the first quarter alone.
