Rockwell Automation, Inc. plans to release FactoryTalk Conductor in the first quarter of calendar 2027, giving factory engineers an AI platform to coordinate work across its design and testing software.
Rockwell announced the platform Oct. 21. The company says engineers will be able to start a task in ordinary language while Conductor directs the applications and AI agents involved. It is intended to give engineering teams a starting point for work that spans Rockwell’s existing software.
Conductor’s first planned integrations are with FactoryTalk Optix, Studio 5000 Logix Designer, Emulate3D and Logix Echo. That group covers tools used to design, simulate and test industrial systems. Rockwell also intends to add Plex, Fiix, FactoryTalk Historian and FactoryTalk Design Studio, but has given no dates for those later integrations.
Customers are expected to be able to choose AI services supplied through FactoryTalk Hub or connect models they select themselves, Rockwell said. Those choices include open-weight models run locally. The company also plans to let customers create AI agents and skills for their engineering processes.
Rockwell cited its 2026 State of Smart Manufacturing study as context for the launch. The survey gathered responses from 1,560 people in 17 countries and reported that 34% of manufacturers’ operations were AI-augmented. That finding describes the surveyed manufacturers’ existing operations, not results from Conductor.
ARC Advisory Group Vice President Craig Resnick said in Rockwell’s announcement that industrial AI needs to manage work spanning engineering applications and operational data. Rockwell’s announcement gave no Conductor price, named customers or measured performance results.
Conductor is aimed at engineering work. Rockwell’s separately named FactoryTalk Orchestration, announced in June, is designed to manage material flow and production processes on factory floors.
Rockwell plans to demonstrate Conductor at Automation Fair in Boston from Nov. 16 to 19. The company has not set a specific commercial release date within the first quarter of calendar 2027.
