Rollico Private Limited says its Rollick ice cream brand generated ₹200 crore in sales during the 12 months before its latest milestone announcement, marking a company record after a pandemic-era contraction.
Rollico’s post describes a three-year span between the business reaching ₹100 crore and ₹200 crore; it separately reports ₹200 crore in sales over the latest 12 months. Managing Director Gaurav Khemani’s LinkedIn post describes eightfold growth over a decade. The posts use different periods and do not explain how the measures align.
LiveMint reported that Khemani joined Rollick in 2014, when turnover was about ₹20 crore. The outlet said turnover reached ₹75 crore to ₹80 crore within four years, stood at ₹80 crore in 2019 and fell to ₹35 crore in 2020. LiveMint also reported that ₹4 crore to ₹5 crore in finished goods remained unsold while loan payments continued, and that 250 to 300 families depended on the business.
Khemani later wrote that Covid sharply curtailed summer sales and that some ice cream sales came from selling products from home. CRISIL said in June 2020 that lockdowns, supply-chain disruption and uncertainty about consumer incomes had weakened fast-moving consumer goods demand. It expected ice cream and beverage sales to be hit harder because restrictions erased revenue during much of the summer.
LiveMint reported that Khemani’s response was to concentrate resources on eastern India. Before the pandemic, he told Press Trust of India in February 2020 that Rollick operated in 14 eastern and northeastern states and planned to enter Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh in 2021, followed by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He also said daily production capacity had risen to 120,000 liters from 45,000 liters.
Rollick’s current company profile lists operations in 15 states and more than 20,000 retail outlets. It also lists a Guwahati production facility as under development, without an opening date.
