AS Roma beat Udinese 5-2 at Stadio Friuli in Serie A on Oct. 31, the larger victory in the day's two completed matches, according to ESPN's scoreboard. The win gave Roma the wider margin of victory among the teams that won those completed fixtures.

Bologna defeated Monza 2-1 at Renato Dall'Ara in the other match. Roma won by three goals, while a single goal separated Bologna and Monza. Both matches ended with a winner, with the result at Renato Dall'Ara decided by the narrower margin.

Bryan Cristante opened the scoring in the 10th minute of the Udinese-Roma match with a header. His was the first goal in a match whose scoring continued in both halves, through to stoppage time at the end.

Rodrigo Mora scored in the 31st minute, and Donyell Malen followed with a goal in the 33rd. Their goals came after the opening header and before the final goal of the first half.

Evan Ndicka scored with a header in the 37th minute, making his goal the fourth of the first half. The opening half therefore included headers from both the player who began the scoring and the player who scored its last goal.

The match produced seven goals in total, with three more after the interval. More of the goals came before halftime than after it, although the scoring resumed after the break and continued into stoppage time.

Nicolò Zaniolo scored in the 50th minute. Matteo Palma added a goal in the 78th minute, before Daniele Ghilardi scored the last goal in the second minute of stoppage time. Those goals completed the scoring after the interval, following the goals recorded in the opening half.

In Bologna's match against Monza, Gustavo Varela opened the scoring with a penalty in the sixth minute. The opening goal at Renato Dall'Ara thus came from the penalty spot, with another penalty still to come before the scoring was complete.

Tommaso Pobega scored in the 33rd minute, the second goal before halftime. His goal followed the opening penalty and preceded the match's final goal, which came after the interval.

Federico Bernardeschi scored the match's final goal from the penalty spot in the 59th minute. Two of the three goals at Renato Dall'Ara came from penalties. The penalties accounted for the opening and closing goals, with Pobega's goal between them in the scoring sequence.
