Ross Stores’ Aug. 20 release reported second-quarter sales of $6.265 billion, up 13%; an SEC filing said Ross recorded about $253 million in recoveries for tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
The quarter covered 13 weeks and ended Aug. 1, 2026. Ross reported $851 million in net income and diluted EPS of $2.66. The company said the tariff recoveries contributed about $0.60 per diluted share.
Ross’s SEC filing said it had received substantially all of the recoveries by Aug. 1. The filing also said the Supreme Court ruled in February 2026 that tariffs imposed under IEEPA were unauthorized under the statute.
The filing reported comparable-store sales growth of 10%. It defines Ross’s traffic measure as transactions, which rose about 7%, and its basket measure as average transaction value, which increased 3%.
Ross’s Aug. 20 guidance calls for comparable-store sales to grow 6% to 7% in fiscal third quarter, with a 4% to 5% range in the fourth quarter.
