Doletit.ru logged 3,596 Russian airport closure events from January through October, illustrating the scale of travel disruption as Ukrainian drone threats prompted repeated flight safety restrictions.

The log draws on public data from Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya). Its total counts airport closure events, not affected flights, and does not establish that drones caused every closure.

Rosaviatsiya has temporarily limited arrivals and departures at airports serving Moscow and in other regions, citing flight safety.

The disruption extends beyond airport closures. Kommersant reported that figures supplied by Russia’s Transport Ministry showed 118,100 flights delayed by more than two hours from January through August, up 20.3% from the same period in 2025. That total includes delays from other causes; Rosaviatsiya also tracks weather and aircraft problems.

Kommersant reported that airlines and airports have adjusted their operations to the restrictions but want quicker notice when limits end. Partial restrictions can allow some flights to operate, even as passengers face delays.

Kirill Yankov, head of the Union of Passengers, told Kommersant that travelers seeking help after disruptions have struggled to secure hotel rooms or find airline representatives.
