Russian Strikes Kill Eight Across Ukraine as Energy Sites Hit

Russian strikes across Ukraine killed eight people and damaged industrial and energy infrastructure on Tuesday as President Volodymyr Zelenskiy met U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Russia has intensified air attacks in recent months, targeting businesses, ports, logistics hubs and energy facilities as fighting continues more than four years into the war. Ukrainian Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi accused Moscow of deliberately striking economic and civilian infrastructure.

In the southeastern Dnipropetrovsk region, attacks hit industrial facilities in Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and Pavlohrad, according to regional Governor Oleksandr Hanzha. The region is a major Ukrainian center for steelmaking, engineering and other industries.

A Russian missile struck an Interpipe facility in Dnipro, killing four people and injuring seven, Ukraine’s largest pipe producer said. Elsewhere, attacks killed two people in Kherson region, one near the Black Sea port of Odesa and another in Kramatorsk in eastern Donetsk. Seven people were injured in a large-scale attack on Izium in the Kharkiv region.

Ukraine’s air force said Russia’s overnight barrage included Oniks anti-ship and ballistic missiles, four cruise missiles and 212 drones. Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces targeted Ukrainian military-industrial, fuel, energy and port infrastructure.

Energy facilities also suffered significant damage. An attack disrupted electricity supplies to nearly 100,000 customers in the northern Chernihiv region. State energy company Naftogaz said at least five ballistic missiles struck idle technological facilities at an oil and gas site in Poltava, leaving the installation effectively beyond repair.

Ukraine, meanwhile, continued its own long-range campaign against Russian energy infrastructure. The Ukrainian military said it struck oil refineries in Ufa, more than 1,300 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, and in Russia’s Samara region.

Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said Ukrainian drones struck civilian targets, killing one person and injuring four. Both Russia and Ukraine deny deliberately targeting civilians.
