Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe will be back soon for the fifth installment of their “Outlander” drama series. Prior to the return of the show, the writers shared something interesting and this just made the fans more intrigued as to what they can expect in the new season.
Sam and Caitriona's drama screening
Heughan, Balfe and the production team saw “Outlander” season 5 via early screening and according to Hello Magazine, writer Matthew B. Roberts said that everyone who was present cried at the scenes in the episode that was played. He took to social media to share the audience’s reaction to their drama but stopped there as he does not want to spoil it further.
"Well I was screening an episode (not going to tell you which one so please don't ask) just the other day and everyone in the room cried multiple times throughout,” he wrote. “Except me because I'm heartless."
Then again, he did not say which part made the viewers cried so the fans were suggesting possible scenes or reason why they turned emotional. Some suggestions were funny but the writer just went along with them.
Sam also hinted at what Jamie Fraser is up to in “Outlander” season 5
Prior to Robert’s hints, Sam Heughan also previously divulged about what will happen with his character in the fifth season. He said that Jamie Fraser will remain true to his deal with the Redcoats to protect his family and friends.
"I can't give away too much, obviously, but as we saw in season four, Jamie's on the side of the Redcoats,” Town and Country quoted him as saying. “He's made this deal with the Redcoats, the British Army, so he's actually on the opposite side of the side where his allegiance really is and his loyalty lies, but he knows he needs to do it. He needs to do it for his family and for his tenants.”
Meanwhile, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe will return as Jamie and Claire Fraser in “Outlander” season 5 on Feb. 16, 2020. As per Deadline, Starz made the announcement in August and more details are set to be revealed via the New York Comic Con 2019 which will take place on Oct. 5 at the Hulu Theatre in Madison Square Garden.
