Hindustan Times reported that San Diego County’s Registrar of Voters office was evacuated Nov. 2 after a suspicious suitcase was found, one day before the county’s Nov. 3, 2026, Gubernatorial General Election.

Hindustan Times said its account drew on police comments to San Diego’s ABC affiliate 10News and a separate New York Post report. The outlet reported that officers remained at the location while the investigation continued, but authorities had not disclosed whether the suitcase contained explosives.

San Diego County lists the Registrar’s office at 5600 Overland Avenue. The county identifies Nov. 3, 2026, as its Gubernatorial General Election and lists the Registrar’s office, official ballot drop boxes and vote centers as scheduled to be open on Election Day. The county says active registered voters receive ballots by mail.

The county’s News Center reported that a separate bomb threat at the Registrar’s office in November 2024 was investigated and deemed not credible. That report does not connect the earlier threat to the current account.
