Okaz reported that Saudi Arabia’s Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) took 174 people into custody and investigated 454 suspects in October; Nazaha also said it made 2,662 inspection visits.

Nazaha said the cases included several criminal and administrative matters tied to alleged bribery and misuse of official power. Okaz characterized the arrests and inquiries as part of a national campaign against corruption in government institutions.

The inquiries reached personnel at several government entities. Nazaha identified the ministries of Commerce, Interior and Education, along with the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, among those covered.

Nazaha said some detainees had been released after bail was granted, while proceedings continued for people implicated in the cases.

Nazaha said it would keep carrying out inspections and inquiries to curb graft and preserve integrity across public institutions.
