Gulf News reported Oct. 21 that Saudi Arabia’s National Centre for Meteorology expects storms across the kingdom through Oct. 26, prompting Civil Defence to warn of flood hazards.

The report listed moderate to heavy rain in Mecca, Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, Medina, Hail and Qassim. In Mecca, the forecast also includes hail and strong downdraught winds that may stir up dust and sand. The other six regions could see thunderstorms, hail, strong winds and flash flooding, the report said.

Tabuk, Al Jouf, the Eastern Province and the Northern Borders region were listed for light to moderate rainfall.

Civil Defence advised people to remain in safe places, keep clear of valleys and areas at risk of flooding, and avoid swimming in floodwaters. It also urged residents to follow safety instructions and weather updates shared through media and social platforms, Gulf News reported. The forecast period runs through Monday, Oct. 26.
