Charles Schwab is widening access to its crypto accounts through a gradual transfer rollout for eligible clients, while preparing to expand the range of assets available for trading.
Schwab says the account service began rolling out to clients in May 2026. Transfer access is a separate feature being introduced gradually. Clients who qualify can route supported assets to their Schwab Crypto accounts or move them to another wallet.
The existing lineup offers spot trading in Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH). In an Aug. 27 announcement, Schwab said it plans to make Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX) and Chainlink (LINK) available in the coming months.
Schwab lists a transaction fee of 0.75% of trade value. The company says crypto held in Schwab Crypto accounts is not insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) or protected by the Securities Investor Protection Corp. (SIPC). It also says the accounts are unavailable in international jurisdictions and some applicants may not qualify.
