Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz warned Android wallet users about a notification that linked to a page asking for recovery words, according to his Oct. 16 post on X.

Schwartz said the alert appeared to come from SecuX’s wallet app. He said tapping it opened the app normally and that he later found the notice in Android’s notification history.

Schwartz described the linked page as a scam and said it asked users to provide either 12 or 24 words. He warned users not to enter them. Schwartz did not identify who sent the notice or establish that SecuX’s systems were involved.

SecuX’s published security guidance says users should keep recovery words private. The company says it will never ask for those words, a seed phrase or private-key information.
