Atlanta, GA, Sept. 29, 2017 -- ScottMadden, Inc., one of North America’s leading energy consulting firms, is proud to join the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) in a fact-finding mission to explore the renewable energy market and grid modernization efforts of Belgium and Netherlands as well as the greater EU. In Brussels, the mission will examine a number of perspectives and approaches related to grid planning and the evolving electricity market. In the Netherlands, the delegation will participate in one day of the European Utility Week conference and a tour of the expo floor to gain additional insights into how utilities and energy companies in Europe are operating and planning for the future.

Chris Vlahoplus, partner and clean tech & sustainability practice leader, and John Pang, partner, will represent ScottMadden in this group of energy industry executives.
The growth of renewables and distributed energy resources, such as solar, storage, and microgrids, and how these technologies are influencing larger grid modernization efforts in European markets will also be a focal point of the mission. In addition to education, the mission will provide many opportunities to network and build relationships with colleagues and experts, including visits to technology and cultural sites.
This select group of executives will meet with energy industry peers with the goal of returning with insights and practical knowledge that can be applied to planning and business decisions in the United States. The trip, which will take place October 1–6, 2017, will focus on addressing key topics, including solar as a grid resource, enhanced demand response, intelligent energy storage applications, advanced metering and grid communications infrastructure, and more.
“This fact-finding mission promises the opportunity to see firsthand the advances being made in distributed resources and smart city applications,” said Mr. Vlahoplus.
“We are excited to be partnering with SEPA on another fact-finding mission, and I am confident that there will once again be some exceptional learnings to share with our U.S. utility clients,” added Mr. Pang.
