Selangor’s education department said schools across the Malaysian state will keep their regular schedule Oct. 29 and encouraged face masks amid haze, while allowing families to keep children home for health concerns.

The Selangor State Education Department (JPN) said parents and guardians who are worried about a child’s health may decide not to send the child to school, provided they notify school authorities. Students who attend are encouraged to wear masks, with extra consideration for those affected by haze.

JPN asked schools and families to monitor air-quality updates and follow safety directions from authorities. It also said it would share further information through its official channels and schools.
