France 24 said authorities reported seven deaths in Ukraine Thursday, hours after U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff met Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg. Witkoff also said Moscow was ready to restart negotiations, the outlet reported.

France 24 described the exchange as involving drones and missiles from Russia and Ukraine. It also reported Moscow’s claim that 630 Ukrainian drones headed for the Russian capital had been intercepted.

Witkoff said Russia was prepared to return to three-way talks with Kyiv and Washington. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov had earlier said Russia was willing in principle to join another round.
