Leverage readings remained near yearly highs for more than 40% of large-cap altcoins after the early-October market retreat. The share of mid-cap tokens with elevated leverage reached a yearly high, leaving leveraged long positions exposed if prices fall further.
The large-cap figure counts tokens with readings near a yearly peak, not a 40% leverage rate for those assets. Separately, the mid-cap measure tracks the share of tokens with elevated leverage.
Readings were highest early in October before prices turned lower. They stayed elevated during the pullback, with no comparable retreat in reported leverage.
The percentages show how widespread elevated readings are across the two groups, not the leverage in any single position. Further price losses could trigger exits by traders holding leveraged long positions. Such closures could add to selling pressure.
