With the manga and the anime showing some truly ridiculous scenes, it should not be a surprise at this point that the main character will use an ice cream scoop to win his next match. This is despite the fact that the theme is Christmas cake and Soma’s opponent used a chainsaw and explosions to bake hers. What in the world will the protagonist do with his chosen tool in “Shokugeki no Soma” 294 that could possibly beat what the judges were just shown?
The previous chapter of the manga revealed that Soma’s opponent is actually someone who is under Asahi Saiba. This took Soma by surprise judging from the look on his face and it seems that Saiba really does not have a high opinion of the cooking capabilities of his disciple’s opponent. This in itself should make “Shokugeki no Soma” 294 quite an interesting chapter.
Barring the possibility that the author will pull the rug right from under the readers by having Soma lose this match, it is highly unlikely for the protagonist to actually do so. As such, his trick in “Shokugeki no Soma” 294 will likely allow him to beat Sarge or to at least pass this particular test and on to the next stage. After all, this arc is all about Soma and Asahi facing each other in the finals.
As for what exactly he is going to use the ice cream scoop for, discerning readers have theorized that he is likely going to bake a cake with balls stacked one on top of the other. This could then lead to something that looks like a giant croquembouche, but with a twist so as to make it more thematically suitable. “Shokugeki no Soma” 294 will definitely be a crazy one.
As for when “Shokugeki no Soma” 294 will be coming out, readers can expect it on Jan. 2. Be ready for a wild bake-off.
