Siemens Limited's new orders rose 37.8% in July-September, but operating profit fell and its margin narrowed, showing that stronger demand did not translate into higher operating earnings in the second quarter of fiscal 2027.

The quarter ended Sept. 30. New orders reached INR 62.28 billion, up from INR 45.19 billion in the year-earlier period. Revenue from continuing operations increased 17% to INR 57.34 billion from INR 49.004 billion. Siemens reported an order backlog of INR 470.34 billion, 12% higher than a year earlier.

Profit after tax from continuing operations was INR 5.042 billion, up 4.8% from INR 4.810 billion. Siemens' press release also stated the figures as INR 504 crore and INR 481 crore, respectively. Profit from operations decreased to INR 5.446 billion from INR 5.607 billion, while operating margin fell to 9.5% from 11.4%.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Sunil Mathur said infrastructure investment and increased private-sector capital spending supported orders and revenue. He said commodity-price and foreign-exchange volatility raised material costs and affected profitability. The increase in continuing-operations profit was below the reported order and revenue growth rates.

The 4.8% profit comparison covers continuing operations. Siemens' consolidated results filing identifies Low Voltage Motors as a discontinued business after its sale and transfer to Innomotics India Private Limited on June 1, 2026. The filing lists total profit for the latest quarter at INR 5.042 billion and the year-earlier quarter at INR 4.854 billion, including INR 44 million from discontinued operations. The comparable year-earlier continuing-operations figure was INR 4.810 billion, which is the basis for the reported 4.8% increase.

The quarterly consolidated results were unaudited. Price Waterhouse Chartered Accountants LLP issued a limited review report, which said the review did not express an audit opinion.
