Simpson Manufacturing Co., Inc. (NYSE: SSD) has raised its share-repurchase authorization to $1 billion, expanding its capacity to return capital to stockholders while leaving future purchases at the company’s discretion.
The board approved the authorization on Oct. 22, and Simpson announced it Oct. 26. The new program replaces a $200 million authorization and has no expiration date. It does not require Simpson to purchase shares or set a minimum amount.
Simpson repurchased approximately $165 million of common stock under the prior program year to date in 2026 through Sept. 30. In the quarter ended Sept. 30, the company bought 352,346 shares in open-market transactions for $66.3 million, at an average price of $188.25 per share.
The company may buy shares on the open market, through private negotiations or by other methods permitted under securities laws. Simpson said market conditions and its capital-allocation priorities will guide the timing and amount of purchases. It can also modify, suspend or discontinue the authorization.
President and CEO Mike Olosky said the authorization gives Simpson more flexibility to return capital to stockholders as it invests for long-term growth. The company has described its capital-allocation approach as balancing business investment with stockholder returns.
As of Sept. 30, Simpson reported $491.3 million in cash and cash equivalents and $308 million in debt under its $900 million credit facility. The company has not identified a funding source or timetable for purchases under the new authorization.
Simpson is based in Pleasanton, California, and manufactures wood and concrete products used in residential and commercial construction across North America and Europe.
