Reuters and Channel NewsAsia reported that Singapore Exchange (SGX) CEO Loh Boon Chye told shareholders at the exchange’s Oct. 23 annual general meeting that he had asked Chairman Koh Boon Hwee to begin planning for a future CEO transition.

SGX’s 2026 annual report describes succession planning as part of its governance framework. The Nominating & Governance Committee reviews succession plans for directors, including the chairman and CEO, and considers SGX’s priorities and long-term outlook in those reviews. The Remuneration & Staff Development Committee reviews succession and development plans for the CEO and executive management. The report also assigns the board responsibility for CEO appointments and succession planning for key management.

These committee remits cover both director succession and executive development. In a statement quoted by Channel NewsAsia, Loh said SGX was planning “from a position of strength.” He said the exchange’s current position gave it room to plan carefully for the future.

SGX’s meeting arrangements identify the gathering as its 27th annual general meeting. The exchange’s appointment announcement says Loh’s CEO role took effect on July 14, 2015.

For the financial year ended June 30, 2026, SGX described revenue and net profit as records. Net revenue rose 13.9% to S$1,478.3 million, while net profit attributable to shareholders increased 7.8% to S$698.4 million. Adjusted net profit gained 24.6% to S$759.5 million. SGX said the adjusted figure excludes certain noncash and nonrecurring items, distinguishing it from net profit attributable to shareholders.

Reuters and Channel NewsAsia reported that Loh’s contract runs until mid-July 2027. Both said no departure date had been set; Channel NewsAsia reported that SGX confirmed this in response to its questions.
