SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 08, 2017 -- Skybox™ Security, a global leader in security management, announced today that Ron Davidson has joined the company as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Vice President of Research and Development. In addition, Davidson will develop capabilities in key growth areas, such as advanced threat management and security management for operational technology (OT) networks, which run critical infrastructure and manufacturing for public and private entities globally. Skybox recently announced a $150 million growth equity investment, a portion of which will help support the company’s R&D expansion.
"Ron has an incredible track record of building R&D teams that pioneer innovations in cybersecurity,” said Gidi Cohen, CEO of Skybox Security. “He’s worked with many of today’s top minds in our industry. In fact, more than 50 percent of the cybersecurity startups in Israel are founded by individuals who have worked on Ron’s teams. It goes without saying that we’re pleased to have him bring that experience to Skybox.”
In addition to leading R&D, Davidson will continue to advance the Skybox™ Research Lab, which feeds ongoing intelligence of the active threat landscape to the company’s platform, the Skybox™ Security Suite. The Lab aggregates threat information from more than 30 globally recognized security data feeds, from open sources and from the dark web, all of which is validated by the Lab
Davidson joins Skybox from Cisco, where he served as senior director of security research and analytics for the company’s video security business. Prior to that, he established and led Check Point's first threat intelligence program. He spent the early part of his career with the renowned IDF Unit 8200, called by Forbes investigative journalist Richard Behar “Israel’s secret startup machine” for cybersecurity companies.
Davidson graduated from Stanford University with a Ph.D. in Engineering Economic Systems. He earned his Master of Science in Computer Science from Weizmann Institute in Israel and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from Tel-Aviv University.
