The Solana Foundation’s current projection places epoch 1064 at 9:20 a.m. ET (13:20 UTC) Wednesday, Oct. 21, the opening point for Alpenglow’s staged consensus change. The estimate can shift with the network’s slot timing.
The epoch boundary opens the upgrade feature gate. Solana will then use TowerBFT for the first 5,000 slots before Votor takes over; the Foundation estimates that interval at about 18 minutes. Earlier EconoTimes coverage of the handoff described the transition sequence.
In an Oct. 15 notice, infrastructure provider Quicknode relayed an Anza estimate of 10:50 a.m. ET (14:50 UTC) and said faster slot production could bring the start forward to 9:20 a.m. ET. The Foundation’s current estimate for epoch 1064 is 9:20 a.m. ET.
The Foundation says validators must meet client and vote-account requirements before the epoch begins. Quicknode advised its users to be ready from 9 a.m. ET (13:00 UTC) and warned that transaction inclusion could briefly pause during the handoff. The epoch’s expected opening on Oct. 21 is the next scheduled step.
