Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. reported a 29% increase in profit after tax for Q2 FY27, while battery electric vehicle revenue rose 129% and accounted for more than half of automotive revenue.
The quarter ended Sept. 30, 2026, and the company identified it as Q2 FY27 in results released Oct. 26. Revenue rose 35% year over year to Rs 1,547 crore, and profit after tax reached Rs 223 crore.
Battery electric vehicle revenue made up 51% of automotive revenue. Sona Comstar said the quarter’s revenue, EBITDA, profit after tax and battery electric vehicle revenue were records, as was the electric vehicle share of automotive revenue. Battery electric vehicle revenue growth outpaced the company’s overall revenue growth.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose 23% to Rs 356 crore. The EBITDA margin was 23.0%, down 2.3 percentage points from a year earlier. On the Oct. 26 earnings call, Group Chief Financial Officer Rohit Nanda attributed the decline mainly to product mix and higher input prices, partly offset by operating leverage. Revenue growth exceeded EBITDA growth by 12 percentage points, while profit growth of 29% fell between the two rates.
Sona Comstar is an Indian mobility components supplier whose products serve electrified and conventional vehicle powertrains, as well as railway applications.
The company secured Rs 36 billion in new business during Q2 FY27. Its net order book stood at Rs 251 billion (Rs 25,100 crore) at quarter-end. Electric vehicle, robotics and physical AI programs accounted for 65% of the book.
Managing Director and Group CEO Vivek Vikram Singh called the period “almost a perfect quarter for us.”
The company said an order for additional traction motor volumes added Rs 12.5 billion to its order book. It expects production of those additional volumes to begin in the second half of FY27.
